The American Civil War

3342 The American Civil War (3-0). An examination of the causes and course of the American Civil War which places that pivotal conflict in the context of the nations development during the nineteenth century. Topics include, but are not limited to, life in the Old South, development of an industrial North, slavery, abolitionist movement, and political and military strategy. Satisfactory completion of History 1301 and 1302 or equivalent American history credit is prerequisite to advanced history courses (3000- and 4000- level courses).
