Applied Pathophysiology and Genomics

Applied Pathophysiology and Genomics (3-0-0). Study of pathologic phenomena that influence disease processes, injuries and health impairments. Students learn disease and injury causes, manifestations, diagnoses and treatments. Genetic and genomic principles are included as essential elements for health care providers in evaluating needs of patients and delivering of care to patients and families. An understanding of the dynamic relationship between pathophysiology and genetics/genomics facilitates the development of patient-centered care. To promote practical application, analysis of genomic influences to specific patient disease manifestations is explored through case studies.
