3350 Religion and Politics (3-0). Theoretical perspectives for and against religions compatibility with secular democratic society are assessed. The empirical backdrop for these competing theories is scrutinized in light of select statistical evidence. The effects of religious belief on political participation rates, democratic attitudes, and trust in scientific consensus receive particular focus.
