Introductory course designed to orientate and instruct studentsin knowledge required for success in advanced veterinary technology courses. Topics include: anatomy and physiology of domestic animals (Integumentary, cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive, gastrointestinal, and neurological systems), nutrition, pharmacology, basics of chemistry, biology, microbiology, (including cellular anatomy/physiology), genetics and heredity, and career opportunities. Medical terminology, regulations, office management and record keeping skills are also covered, as they pertain to working in a veterinary practice. Field trips may be required.
