Continued study of advanced aspects of American Sign Language. Emphasizes receptive and expressive narrative fluency and Deaf rhetorical approaches. Focuses on specific linguistic aspects of ASL such as classifier combinations, role-shifting, conditionals, and expansion. Advanced practice with receptive and expressive fingerspelling. Also includes exploration of issues pertinent to Deaf culture. Outside assignments require practice and assessment with video programs. Field trips required.
