This course is intended for students who need the necessary algebra, reasoning, and critical thinking skills necessary to be successful in a transfer level math class for BSTEM pathways. Topics for the course include Intermediate Algebra: functions and operationson functions; system of linear equations, linear, and absolutevalue inequalities; linear, absolute value, and quadratic equations;radicals, operations with radicals, and equations with radicals; rational expressions, and operations with rational expressions;radicals, rational exponents, and equations with radicals and rational exponents. This course also introduces the student to basic trigonometry, introductory deductive and inductive reasoning skills, and beginning topics in Statistics. This course satisfies local degree requirements and for students pursuing a BSTEM transfer pathway.
