Gerontology - Community Nursing

Level 4 course integrates previous medical surgical knowledge and leadership skills as it applies to the aging adult. The Nursing process framework is used to explore the lifestyle and physical changes that occur with aging, apply the process of initiating health referrals and propose the outcome criteria for evaluating the aging individual''s response to teaching/learning. Correlated clinical experiences will emphasize the application of interventions that will increase the older adult''s functional ability. The roles of Provider of Care, Manager of Care, and Member of Profession are integrated throughout the didactic and clinical experiences.
