The first of a three-part sequence (together with Arts 305 and Arts 355), this course integrates typography, illustration, and photography to solve visual problems, communicating with meaning and purpose. Precedents from the history of graphic design are integrated into specific projects to develop visual acuity and critical discernment. The course introduces vector and bitmapped graphics utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Macintosh computers WYSYWIG editors are utilized as a problem-solving approach, optimizing visual communication. No prerequisite
