This course is specifically designed for those planning for a health care major, including nursing, exercise science, and other allied health science careers that depend upon a thorough understanding of chemistry. The fundamental concepts of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and structural biochemistry are presented with an emphasis on the chemical nature of biological systems. Topics such as molecular bonding and structure, equilibrium chemistry, and chemical reactivity are presented. Issues regarding the ethics and stewardship of health care and new medical technologies will also be discussed. This course is not appropriate for students pursuing a pre-professional health track
