Women and Gender in US History

A study of the history of women and gender in American history in global context. The course examines the social construction of femininity and masculinity; intersections of race, class and gender; changing understandings of sexuality; the history of feminism; and the relationship between Christianity and feminism. The course provides an introduction to significant questions and methodologies in womens history and gender studies and equips students to approach contemporary issues related to women and gender from a historical perspective
