An exploration of the historical and modern influence of physical representation on scientific knowledge acquisition and theory development and modification. The central role of observation in the scientific method, the value of organizing knowledge in models, and the influence of print culture in knowledge dissemination will be explored. Students will also consider the limits of representation and the influence of culture on the creation and interpretation of representations of scientific knowledge. This course, in conjunction with HNRS 202, will fulfill the Arts and the Natural Science core requirements
