An introduction to selected topics, methodologies, and issues in the historical development of philosophy and the natural sciences, with an eye toward their intersections. Students will explore the ways that philosophy and the natural sciences have influenced society and will be introduced to philosophical and scientific practices to help them become more self-reflective and conscientious citizens. The course will cover such topics as the various epistemological sources of evidence used to defend claims, evaluation of arguments, various understandings of purpose and function, and highlight the ways that philosophical and scientific approaches support each other and enhance the Christians understanding of creation. This course, in conjunction with HNRS 201, will fulfill the Philosophical Foundations and the Natural Science core requirements
