Foundations of Journalism and Promotional Communication

This course gives students a historical and social-scientific overview of journalism, advertising, and public relations from their earliest beginnings to the present day. It examines these foundational media as they exist together within a fluid media environment, one (or more) often impacting upon another within the political, economic, and social background of the United States. Each medium will be examined in three areas: power, history, and technology.
