This course enables students to develop the various skills required to be an instrumental conductor. These skills include the physical ability to communicate tempo, the ability to employ conducting gestures, the knowledge of how to analyze a musical score, and the ability to communicate effectively with the members of an ensemble. Students, taking the course on the graduate level, will be assigned longer and more demanding works (than students enrolled in MUA 391/392) and are expected to conduct music from a variety of different genres in front of a small ensemble to a large orchestra.
