MUS 411

Music History I

MUS 112, MUS 113, MUS 234, and MUS 244, or permission of instructor. This course will present the development of Western Music from around 700 (the Middle Ages) to the mid-eighteenth century (the Age of Enlightenment). Understanding the major trends in Western music as well as its function in society, and examination of the parallels with other fine arts is a further goal.
