The emphasis is on the development of therapeutic nursing interventions which acknowledge primary preventive aspects of planning for the health of individuals, groups, and populations experiencing economic, social, environmental, and technological stressors. Secondary and tertiary preventive strategies for maintaining health in a community based practice setting are presented. Principles of epidemiology and disaster planning will be discussed.
