This course examines the assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology of select health conditions. The focus is on the development of clinical decision-making skills and diagnostic reasoning. The collection of subjective and objective data and the analytical process of working through a differential diagnosis give the student the opportunity to consider various etiologies, weigh the likelihood of the possibilities and make accurate, evidence supported diagnoses and treatment plans. Students in all tracks would find these skills useful and they are mandated by the CCNE Essentials.
