This course provides students with an introduction to the law, legal processes, and the legal system as it relates to social work practice. Several major aspects of the intersection of social work and the law are address, including: the significance of courts and case law to issues of social justice across a range of fields of practice. The course introduces students to the operation of the legal system and highlights some of the unique ways that social workers interact with it, and how case law impacts social work practice.
