This course will provide a study of the clinical applications of abdominal sonography, including positioning and scanning protocol. Anatomical structures will include: abdominal vasculature; liver; gallbladder and biliary system; pancreas; spleen; and kidneys. Specific pathology and clinical symptomotology will be covered as they relate to the sonographic appearance of these structures. Interpretation and critique of normal and abnormal anatomy with correlation of clinical, didactic and image information will be presented. This course is available to students who have been accepted in to the DMS program. This course must be taken for a letter grade, and students must achieve a "C" or better to remain in the DMS program.
