BIOL 4337

Plant Systematics

Flowering plant classification and evolution. Characteristics and methods of traditional plant taxonomy and computer-based phylogenetic methods using morphological and molecular data sets. Plants will be studied in field and lab. Students will use data collected from plant specimens and from GenBank to conduct phylogenetic analysis in various angiosperm groups. Two hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory per week.
