This interdisciplinary course with nursing, medicine, public health and other disciplines is the first of a two-semester series of courses which allows students to develop an understanding of rural health issues using community based participatory research methodology and theory relevant to health sciences. Student and faculty teams partner with rural communities to assess health priorities and develop plans to address identified needs. Both quantitative and qualitative evaluative methods are utilized to assess and analyze health status indicators using appropriate technology.
