Required of all generalist track third-year medical students. All students will be assigned to a six week rotation in either Bristol, Kingsport or Johnson City for their Family Medicine Clerkship. Students will be involved with outpatient activities at their assigned ETSU Family Medicine clinic and the inpatient service at the clinics associated hospital: Bristol Regional Medical Center, Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport or Johnson City Medical Center. Each clinical site will develop their students schedules for working in the clinic and in the hospital. All students will participate in a home visit arranged through the social worker at each clinic; make an EBM/PICO based presentation; complete a behavior change assignment; and a participate in preventative medicine project during the clerkship. Clinical location assignments will be made at the discretion of the coordinator and faculty, according to clinic and hospital scheduling needs before the academic year starts and changes cannot be accommodated. Student requests based on a specific hardship such as illness, difficult childcare circumstances, or extenuating circumstances submitted by March 1 will be considered.
