Introduction to Clinical Psychiatry

Required for all second-year medical students. This course provides an introduction to the basic principles and practice of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The course includes lectures, live and videotaped vignettes of patients, and small group activities aimed at mastery of the material. The course also looks at mind-body connections, the stress response, communication skills, crisis intervention, behavior modification, and identification and treatment of behavior-related health problems.
