Methods of Teaching Students in the Middle Grades

Exploration of middle school developmentally appropriate instructional planning, materials, evaluation, and reporting of pupil progress. Student communication and personal development are stressed through exploratory programs and the balance of teaching and learning styles. Inquiry, problem solving, and discovery methods used to show the importance of content knowledge and its application to decision making. Emphasis on the importance of interdisciplinary units of instruction to acculturate students. Designed for teacher education majors seeking middle school certification (Grades 5-9) and for others interested in upper elementary grades and curriculum and instruction. A 10 clock hour practicum is included
