This course provides an introduction to the ways history is conceptualized and presented outside of the classroom: in libraries, museums, national parks, theme parks, films, and on the internet. Special emphases will include an introduction to the various professions of the field, the historical thought-processes required to interpret the past for the public, and the unique challenges public historians face as they balance competing debates about how the past should be preserved and remembered
