ART 3300

History of Graphic Design

This course of study explores the history of Graphic Design from the earliest recorded human interaction to the present, from the emergence of the printed page to digital technologies, with a focus on the modern era. The ways in which Graphic Design influences behavior and interaction will be examined. Along with reading and discussion, period-specific design projects will be assigned that examine cultural, political, and social contexts.
