This course focuses on identifying illustration as a creative communication tool. Lectures and practical exercises serve to introduce students both to the history and basic concepts of the discipline. An overview of European illustration is offered, and many illustrations from magazines and books are analyzed. Students learn to develop their individual creative potential, and special emphasis is given to the need to fine tune each project according to the rules of visual communication. This course will serve to build on both a student's own creative/artistic abilities, but also on prior experience with other art and computer graphic courses.
