This course is a survey of the laws and regulations in New York State and the United States designed for students to learn about, understand and apply concepts related to electronic advancements and technology. One may not think twice about hitting "Tweet," "Share," or "Send," but that message/e-mail/post may live on for years, and become a key piece of evidence in a business dispute, employment discrimination claim, or criminal proceeding. Students will learn about topics such as cloud storage; searching social media; preserving electronic materials; how potential jurors' social media is searched; and how electronic and social media information is used as evidence in both civil and criminal matters.
