CSC 3550

OPERATING SYSTEMS

This course provides an overview and history of operating systems (OS). The OS can provide a programming environment, a file system with related structures and utilities. Management of system resources such as DASD, memory processes and queues is explored. Fundamentals of system configuration and recovery techniques and methodologies are examined as well as the system methods and procedures employed to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Topics include control programs, system service and utility programs and file maintenance.
