TEACHING LANGUAGE ARTS AND LITERACY INSTRUCTION

In this course students will learn about research supported methods and materials used for organizing and teaching elementary and middle school pupils the skills involved in a language arts program: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The skills and understandings which support the conventions of the English language such as the correct use of grammar, spelling, and mechanics will be addressed. Students will learn how to organize and schedule instruction for pupils with and without disabilities, as well as English language learners. Field experience is required.
