SPECIAL POPULATIONS OF GIFTED LEARNERS

This course examines student characteristics of special populations of gifted learners, appropriate identification and program planning, and intervention strategies for the development of their unique needs and abilities. Teaching strategies will be explored in the development of multicultural gifted education curriculum. Special populations of gifted learners will include: Underachievers, culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse minorities, gender issues, disabled, economically disadvantaged, highly-gifted, very young gifted. Issues in global education of gifted students will be examined.
