HCA 2050

COMMUNICATING WITH PATIENTS AND PROFESSIONALS

The complexity of health care and the health care system impose barriers in the patient communication process which can negatively impact healthcare outcomes. Through oral and written forms for a professional using basic medical terminology. Students will also learn to translate professional health care communications into oral and written forms that can be understood by the patient. In addition, this course provides students with basic knowledge of conflict resolution strategies, as well as knowledge of and practice with new programs and tools which foster communication within the healthcare team and between practitioners and patients.
