WORLD HISTORY II

This course surveys the history of the world from the European encounter with the non-Western world (c. 1500 CE) to the present day. It will explore the major trends which have shaped the modern world, including the rise of modern states, the revolutionary era, the ideologies of socialism, liberalism, and nationalism, European imperialism, and the shifting balance of power in the postcolonial world.
