In this course students will develop problem-solving techniques in the exploration of contemporary topics using mathematics and computer technology. Students will engage in inquiry-based, hands-on, and collaborative learning, and will improve their computer and mathematical skills as well as written and oral communication skills. Topics include data analysis, number theory, mathematics of finance, geometry and measurement, probability and statistics, information retrieval and assessment, and issues related to social networking and privacy. Pre-requisite: passing score on the arithmetic and algebra placement tests.
