This course is an introduction to discrete and continuous models in mathematical biology. Topics will include infectious diseases, population dynamics, predator/prey, and the zombie apocalypse. Mathematical tools such as bifurcation diagrams, stability analysis, phase portraits, and derivation of the basic reproduction number will be used to analyze systems of difference and differential equations that describe biological phenomena. No prior background in biology is necessary.
