INTRODUCTION TO BLUES MUSIC AND IMPROVISATION

This course is designed to give a novice to intermediate instrumentalist or vocalist an opportunity to explore the history and application of blues improvisation. The class follows the history of this American folk music through its beginnings in the rural south to its current position as a major music force both in genre and influence. This is done by having the students learn the art of improvisation and to explore each individuals creative potential while learning more about how this music shaped everything from jazz, hip-hop, to metal. It doesn't matter it you are just beginning the journey on your instrument/voice , or you have been playing for a long time. If you wish to find out more about how to improvise while studying one of the most influential American art forms of the 20th century this class will be your ticket to starting a new chapter in your musical understanding and creative process.
