NUR 3051

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING

Nursing courses marked with * include a clinical laboratory experience that requires at least a minimally safe level of performance. Clinical calculations proficiency is also required. The division reserves the right to implement a policy on disciplinary action if so warranted. This course prepares the general practitioner of nursing to deal with psychosocial problems. The nursing process is used as a means of organizing psychiatric clinical syndromes. Emphasis is on assessment skills and the supportive, holistic treatment role of the nurse in dealing with client behaviors. Nursing process and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns are the basis for clinical decision making.
