NUR 3650

NURSING CARE OF OLDER ADULT

This course focuses on the complex health needs of the older adult in the home and community as well as in outpatient and inpatient settings. This course will identify and consider the specific, socioeconomic, as well as the ethical/moral considerations to reflect safe, evidence based, and culturally competent care to older adults. This course will explore the complex interactions of acute and chronic health conditions common in the elderly, use technology to enhance older adults' independence and safety, and assess older adults' physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. The framework for this course is built upon core competencies set forth by the American Association of College of Nursing (AACN) and the John A Harford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing.
