PROFESSIONAL NURSING: ISSUES AND TRENDS FOR RNs

This course will focus on the professional nurse's role as leader, change agent, client advocate, and user of research. Emphasis is on contemporary issues in health care and nursing leadership, human resources management, legal/ethical dilemmas, organizational and change theories, and quality improvement. Professional values such as human dignity and social justice are considered. Priority setting and clinical decision making are emphasized. The impact of technology and inter-professional collaboration will be explored. Professional career planning is discussed.
