HUMAN DIVERSITY/TRANSCULTURAL NURSING

This course focuses on culture care beliefs, values and practices of specific cultures and subcultures. Contemporary issues about diversity will be identified to assist students in exploring problem areas related to culture care practices in diverse environmental contexts. Students will explore culture care differences and similarities as a basis for planning, implementing, and evaluating culturally congruent care. Emphasis in this course is on Leininger's Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality and its application in the care of multicultural patients. Studentw ill demonstrate reflective use of transcultural nursing literature related to nursing education, administration, practice, and research.
