Developing Social/Emotional Problem-Solving Competencies in Young Children

Methods for developing prosocial, emotional and social-problem competencies in young children. Includes positive self-concept, emotional literacy, friendship skills, and social-problem solving across the early childhood age continuum. Creation and provision of (a) nurturing and responsive relationships and high quality supportive environments; (b) systemic approaches to teaching targeted skills to achieve preventive and remedial effects, (c) survey of functional behavior assessment approaches leading to team-based development, implementation and evaluation of effective, intensive support plans; and (d) evidence-based systems and policies to support classroom teams in these efforts
