In this course, the student develops the ability to assess, analyze, and recommend change for health issues encountered in groups and communities. Topics include local, regional, and global conditions affecting vulnerable populations throughout the lifespan. Application of community health principles are the foundation for recommending interventions. Diverse environmental, disease treatments, and health care policy strategies are the goal for prevention. Focus is on the leadership role of the nurse in collaborating to improve and promote health. Students are expected to demonstrate competency in one Masters level program outcome. This course includes 45 hours of practical application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of the baccalaureate-prepared nurse.
