English for Specific Purposes

This course presents the theory and practice of English for specific purposes, a learner-centered approach to teaching English as a foreign and second language. It explores sub-disciplines of ESP and ESPs key concepts and techniques. Participants evaluate authentic materials in specific areas, such as academic learning, business, medicine, civil engineering, etc.; design ESP course; examine language teaching methodology through academic and occupational content, and develop assessment strategies for ESP courses.
