It explores ways to support newcomers for success in the U.S. education system. Specific topics include the challenges and strengths of immigrant and refugee learners; ways to welcome, integrate, and support immigrants and refugees in U.S. school communities; methods for English-language instruction, academic acculturation and school-to-home communication; guidelines and models of professional development related to newcomers for teachers and staff in whole school communities; and program administration
