BIOL 317

General Microbiology Laboratory

This one credit hour laboratory course is designed to accompany the lecture course General Microbiology. There are two primary portions of the course. During the first portion, laboratory safety and various basic techniques for the isolation, cultivation, identification, and quantitation of microorganisms will be introduced and skills in use of these techniques will be developed. In the second portion of the course, students will practice the techniques they have learned to isolate and identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture
