This course provides a survey of the major approaches to social research using quantitative methods: Cross-sectional and longitudinal designs, group designs, survey research, experimental design, program level evaluation, and single system design. Students will work in teams to conduct a study based on their Field internship. Some specific concepts to be covered include: the scientific method, NASW code of Ethics, variables and measures, reliability and validity, external and external validity, probability and non-probability sampling, frequencies, correlations, the normal curve, and, elementary data analysis.
