This course is an intergration of concepts fundamental to meeting the needs of students with diverse backgrounds. Particular focus will be given to language and cultural diversity in EL populations in secondary education settings. The course will explore: research-based instructional strategies, language acquisition theories, stages of language acquisition, WIDA resources and requirements, ESL assessment, laws, and culturally relevant education.
