An advanced survey of molecular and population genetics and their applications in anthropology. Topics vary, including but not limited to: genetic epidemiology, genetic distance studies, behavioral genetics, developmental genetics, sociobiology, and use of mitochondrial DNA to reconstruct population histories. Emphasis is on applications of new technology and methodology, as well as new genetic paradigms replacing classical models of genetic causation. Note: this course assumes that students have completed undergraduate coursework in biological anthropology or genetics
