This course examines concepts in information technology with an emphasis on organizations, organizational strategy, and competitive advantage. Using a seminar method, students will be introduced to foundational concepts and current knowledge in the IT-based research areas of information and organizational economics, boundaries and markets, firm performance, organizational capabilities, innovation, organizational design and management mechanisms, and the challenges to achieving competitive advantage over competitors. Through completion of this course, students should acquire the ability to evaluate organization-focused IT research and identify valued questions that can be examined in future research. Restrictions: Restricted to PhD majors within the Business School and within the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, PHCS PhD majors and PHIS PhD majors.
