This course is a mathematically sophisticated introduction to the theory and methods of statistical inference, including point and interval estimation and hypotheses testing. Students will learn fundamental technical tools that are essential to carry out methodological research in the field of Biostatistics. Emphasis will be placed on how to correctly propose statistical methods with desirable properties in a general setting including asymptotic unbiasedness, robust variance estimation and efficiency
